Never open the door without looking!

Last night Haloti calls from work to ask if I watched the news. I told him no. (I usually avoid watching tv 'cause once I turn it on, nothing else gets done. Besides, I thought it wouldn't be fair to the kids. They are not allowed to watch tv or play video games during the week. I know, such a cruel mom, but that's the rules in our house. I'd rather they play outside or read.) He then continued to tell me about the article below.

He wanted to make sure I remind the kids to never open the door -- let one of open the door. Our twins have a habit of running to the door and opening it. We have the glass pane, so you can see who is at the door. Now after hearing and reading about this story, I will definitely check first before opening. Such a crazy world!

DRAPER — A woman was stabbed by two men Sunday night after answering a knock at her door in Draper.
About 8:30 p.m. the woman, who was home alone, answered the door of her home, near 700 West and 11500 South. Two men wearing dark hoodies were standing at her doorstep, said Draper Police Sgt. Gerry Allred. Without saying a word, they attacked.
"One party lunges at her and she is stabbed in the lower abdomen," he said.
The woman suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital and later released, Allred said. The men ran off after the stabbing. The woman said she had never seen the men before and detectives said Monday they were not aware of any apparent motive for the attack.
Allred said investigators were following up on leads and evidence in an effort to determine what happened.
