As you all probably know, I am seriously making an effort to make it out to the gym at least 5 times a week. I didn't make it there last night, instead had to run a few errands which included picking up a yoga/pilates mat. I decided that I needed to venture out and try new things.
I tried yoga this morning. I always had the impression that yoga was a "go stretch and relax type of class". It's not. I stood in the back row with my sister Kalo. Many times during the class I kept falling over. I thought I had strong legs and was flexible, but I soon found out I was not.
I could barely keep my balance on my bare feet. Along with that, I was so slow. I haven't learned the names of the positions and the only two I know are the "rest positions" which are "child's play (or something like that...I know it's called child something) and downward dog. The instructor and some of the long time students make it look so easy with their continuous, smooth motions. Watching Kalo and I would make you laugh. In fact, we both wanted to laugh, but with the soft melodic music playing and pure silence, we knew that would be inappropriate.
It's a good class and I am told that if we continue to attend, it will get easier. I sure hope so 'cause today I felt so lost!
And of course, after Yoga we stayed for Zumba.
Here's a video I found surfing youtube for Zumba videos --
If I took a class with this crew, I don't know if I would dare take Zumba. The girl on the left -- holy cow! Maybe if I moved like that, then I would be skinny like that. Watching the guy is more like it! Check out the lady in the back with the jeans and bandana -- that was me when I first started...LOL.

Fun....I could just see you two trying to be graceful. I hear that Yoga is great and builds a dancers body...long and lean. I want to try it sometime too.
wow..I saw Yoga and I almost choked:)
I've always thought about trying that but got scared I'd twist myself into something I could never get out of.You go, Sinai:):)I luv it that you're trying great things!!!..have a wonderful evening:) rock on ..
If we could be as loud as we are in Zumba, I would have busted up laughing already. Kalo and I doing Yoga was nothing close to graceful. In fact, the instructor kept saying, "if you lose your balance, it's okay, just hang in there"....I know she was speaking to us! But really it's a good workout...check it out sometimes, you will be amazed at how hard it is.
Saw you at the gym this past Saturday getting your Zumba on.. It looked way fun.. I was chicken and ended up doing the treadmill thing.. Let me get my energy level up and I will join..
Thanks for the great example your setting..
Holy cow! That Zumba video is no joke! If you danced like that lady they wouldn't ask you to translate in church again, haha!
Ok, after watching that video I think I'll take yoga over zumba. She is so intimidating and plus I've take a few yoga classes and at least it's in the dark so no one can see that you're not keeping up or doing the poses just right...lol! Good luck!
Lita--
For reals huh? They probably wouldn't allow me to walk into the church.

You two should check it out - Zumba is lots of fun and our class is a lot slower pace than the one featured in the video.
