Saving $$$

I am trying to do better at saving money. Here's a few changes I'm making:

*Packing a lunch to work - I use to do that then I got lazy! I pay full price for the kids to eat hot lunch, so along with me taking a lunch to work, the kids will alternate here and there by taking cold lunch to school. If they had microwaves at school, then for sure it would be every day.

*Planning my trips wisely - thinking ahead of time what I'm going to do that day and planning a route that will save time and money. For example, if I need to go grocery shopping, do it on the way home from work or the gym. I am fortunate to have several stores to and from both places that it makes it convenient.

*Plan my meals ahead of time - a friend of mine has her entire menu for the work listed out. I know, who does that? But I'm going to give it a try. Better yet, plan my meals around what's on sale and what I have on stock.

*Debt snowball - I keep saying I'm going to do this, but never really fully do it. This time I am. I guess there's different ways you can do this, I'm going to do it where I payoff the lower balances first. Luckily for me, the lower balances are actually the ones with higher interest.

*Save money on utilities - this one is a tough one because it will require some work on our entire families part. First step is to unplug items not in use. Even though you're not using the item, but it's plugged in, you're still using some energy. That means unplugging my phone charger when the phone is not plugged in. Maybe even cut back on the plug in air fresheners. LOL. But you get the idea.

*Coupon/do my homework before - I saved lots of money in the past, but took a LONG break, but back at it again. We're fortunate in our day and time to have the internet. Something I use to do, but haven't done for awhile is look up promo's and deals online before heading out. For example, need an oil change or something for your car? Check the internet before getting one. Sometimes there are coupons or promo's available that will save you money. The same goes for dry cleaning and what not. If you do your homework before, you can definitely save a few bucks! A few, but in the long run, that 'few bucks' will add up.

I know the info I shared is nothing new, but these are definitely things I'm going to work on and focus.

Aside from that, I am trying to build up our food storage. I can't wait for the case lot sales to get here. I hear they are coming up in April! Excited to stock! To be honest, I miss my stocked storage. But it's back on again, so I can't wait!

Happy savings y'all!!!

that's a great saving $$$ to do list! I'm with you on doing homework before heading out to go coupon shopping. I've caught myself so many times being unprepared not taking the right coupons to the right store, then wasting gas going back home to get it. about the saving utilities..when it comes to the water we just tell our guests to limit it to under 10 minutes in the shower and keep all plugs unplugged unless it's going to be used.

Good luck saving the bucks! We really need to pack Myron lunches for work too and make a menu off of what's on sale that week and what we have in our stock pile.
Good thinking on keeping things unplugged. I need to do that too.

Let's save, save, save!!
