My big day today. It began with a late night. Went to a wedding dance and by the time we got home, it was around 11:30 pm. Once I was home, I could not sleep. I don't even remember what time I finally went to sleep.
It didn't help that I received a 5:00 am phone call from my mom asking about their flight out this morning to California. Then about a half hour later, she showed up on my doorstep because she thought my son forgot his bag. Well come to find out, he didn't. He had it with him at her house.
I climbed back into bed and told myself I would get up around 7 am. 7 am rolled around and I did not want to get out of bed. I told myself 8. Keep in mind, I had originally planned to get up early and get all my things ready for certification. I gave myself an hour to get everything together and head out by 9 am since it would probably take about 30 mins to get there.
Good thing I had a helper to get my stuff together as I quickly tried to put myself together. We made it out the door by 9 am and I dropped my helper off at my sisters. Thank goodness it was all freeway. I made it there by 9:45 am.
I walked in and was so intimidated. Literally. I felt like the biggest chick there. I was the only polynesian. Nerves were kicking in. Was beginning to feel unsure of myself. Then I saw Amy - the owner of the dance studio that Teresa teaches at. She was there with Satomi, a dance teacher at Amy's studio. What a relief. I mean, I don't know them know them, but I kinda know them if you know what I mean. They were nice and friendly. We decided we would all stick together.

Class began with a 'master class'

Getting our certificates

Me with a few latina ladies I met at the certification. Yeah, I feel like a giant standing with these petite Latina women.

Me with Lindsey Taylor (Zumba Education Specialist)
She's awesome!

The two on the end are currently instructors.
Class began with a 'master class' . Basically a workout session. Then we went into lectures and demonstrations on four of the basic Latin steps. By the time we got going, I was finally in my comfort zone and just had a good time. It was tiring, but a good kind of tiring. I met a few new friends from there.
It was a great workout and great certification class. I walked away feeling excited and pumped to teach Zumba. I can't wait!!!!
I've truly been blessed with some of the greatest friends and family members. They have been supportive and continue to be supportive as I venture out to do this! Much love to y'all!
