I apologize for the delay in posting about our trip to Italy. I didn't think it would take me this long to get back on the right sleeping schedule. Italy is 8 hours ahead. It doesn't help that when I slept most of the time on our way back. On the night we arrived back home, I was wide awake and did not sleep until 3 or 4 am and I had to turn around and get up around 6 to get the kids ready and off to school. Add to that my early morning Zumba classes. By Thursday & last evening, as soon as I got off from work, I got home and fell asleep. I had to. It was the tiredness where your head hurt. I think I am finally back on track.
Lots of things going on today. Some days I wish could clone myself so I can be everywhere I need to be. With shift & schedule changes, I work every Saturday now. It has it's good and bad. The good - I am off on Mondays. It's nice to schedule appointments and all of that on Monday and not have to miss work. The bad - lots of things go on Saturday morning and sometimes you have to miss because of work.
For example - today. It's my nephew Griffin's baptism. It's at 10 am. Like I said, wish there were two of me, maybe even three so I can be there and at work at the same time.
Today always is the "weigh-in" day for my Weight-Loss Challenge. I should've scheduled it later, but because I am using a facility free of charge, I'm not sure if the time slot I was given - if it was the only one available. That begins at 11 am. I am pushing hard to get work completed so I can be there on time. On the plus side, it's not too far from work.
Aside from the craziness ahead for me, my son HAD a surprise for me. Backtracking a little, back when I was a teenager, my siblings and I always tried to surprise my mom. That never worked. She liked to ask a lot of questions and we always gave in telling her we had a surprise planned for her, but with all her questions, had to tell her or we would get beat up. I always told myself I would "never do what my mom did". Fast forward to a few days ago. I believe we (my boys and I) were driving to the rec. center when my oldest asked what I was doing Saturday night. I told him I had to work, I had weigh-in's and that was about it. I told him I was basically busy until 2 pm. He said, "oh okay". Curious as to why he was asking, I asked him, "why are you asking". A little hesitant, he said, "um, just wondering". A little irritated (maybe due to lack of sleep, jet lag, etc.) I said, "there has to be a reason why you are asking, is there something you need". He said, "no, nevermind". By this point, I raised my voice a little and said, "look, you don't ask for no reason, there has to be something you need for you to be asking". He was quiet and then said, "for Mother's Day I wanted to take you out to dinner Saturday night". Dumbfounded and feeling stupid, I said, "oh okay, we can do that".
My oldest if 15 years old. He doesn't work or have a job for that matter. I totally didn't expect anything like this. I'm sure this is money he has saved from his birthday and other times he ha received money. I wish I could be like my kids and hold on to money like that. Lol. I am blessed to have thoughtful kids.
Since it is Mother's Day tomorrow, let me write about my mom. For as old as she is (she's in her late 50's), she is one active woman. She gets up really early. She tends all of our kids on a daily basis. If I can barely handle my own, imagine tending nieces and nephews every day. She takes the nieces & nephews to live with her to school, picks them up. Because my daughter chooses to stay there with my mom, she brings her every morning as early at 5 am sometimes. She picks up my kids from school. She takes my daughter to piano lessons. Aside from what she does for the grandkids on a daily basis, she will come over and clean my house. She will house sit when we are out of town. She is dedicated and organized. She is always on time. I am grateful for all she does for me, my family as well as for my siblings. Yes she is loud and sometimes annoying, but she does a lot. I love you mom!
