More thrift stores...

On Friday and Saturday, I decided to hit up a few stores that were recommended to me. First store I checked out: Down East Outfitters. It was my first time in this store. I want to say everything in there is new - nothing used. The prices were pretty reasonable on some things. For example, I bought 2 dresses that were priced at $5 each.

A lot of the items I could tell came from Pottery Barn. Items such as blankets with names or initials embroidered in. They had jewelry boxes, vases, lamps, etc. I doubt I would find my kids names (Pitasoni, Nohe'a, Ailini, or Brydan)...well, maybe Gideon's. LOL. It's definitely one of those kind of stores where you would need to take the furniture and repaint it. If you got time and creativity, this would be a fun store to browse around.

After DEO, we headed over to the D.I. by our house. My kids absolutely loved it. My two older boys were able to find jackets (one that still looked new) that were priced at $6 and $8. I found some white church shirts for them priced at $4 each. And then my twins, found shorts and a couple shirts. As for me, I found some brand new tees for $1 each. Figured they would make good workout shirts, so I bought a couple.

We ran into my brother and sister-in-law there. Here's me and my sister-in-law posing with outfits we picked out for one another. We joked around about them, but you know, I can totally see some older (maybe even younger) tongan ladies falling in love with them, especially the one I picked for Sela. LOL. And no, we did not buy them. Just took pictures with the outfits!

On Saturday I decided to check out our local Salvation Army. I browsed around the store and found this piece of furniture:

Although the handle is falling off, the rest of the piece is still in good condition. I believe it was around $20-$30. Not too bad. I figure you could probably repaint, glaze and add new hardware to this and turn it into something beautiful.

I found a lot of new clothing from Target there. I actually laughed at the price tag. Why? There was a shirt there that I own that I picked up from Target at $3.24, it was actually marked at $6. It's definitely a know your price type store.

I'm starting to enjoy the DI's (thrift stores), however, I still find some difficulty in buying the clothing. Mainly because I know I can shop Target's clothing clearances and get a brand new item cheaper than an used item there at the DI. Not all clothing, but most!!!! Other than that, it's a lot of fun and can see getting addicted to these stores! Thank goodness it's winter here or I'd be out at garage/yard sales. I have yet to check out estate sales, but hear I can find some good deals at those too!!!
