Kids...the things they say...
A few days ago, my oldest son was on the computer looking up his grades. He attends John F. Kennedy Jr. High. Brydan (the oldest of my twins) was standing over his shoulder and watching him. Out of the blue he says to Soni, "Kennedy...is that the guy that was in the parade and was shot in the neck and died?". Soni tells him "yeah". I jump in and ask Brydan, "how do you know this?" He said, "when I was a little kid"....and before he could finish, I said "you're still a little kid"...then he continues "well, when I was 6". Being impatient, I quickly said "you are still 6", then he said "no mom, I'm 8, remember?" Feeling dumb I said, "oh yeah, you're right and?" He said, "well, I was a grandma's house and she was watching t.v. and I saw it on t.v." Okay, so he learned about Kennedy from the t.v. at grandma's. Oh boy.
Not too long after that conversation, we are talking about Martin King Day coming up...Brydan quickly says "oh, he's the black guy that got shot and killed by a white guy and the white guy is still in jail today, huh mom?" I said "well, I'm not sure if he's still in jail, that was a long time ago". He then continues to say "they shot a lot of people back then, huh mom?" Oh boy, the things these kids say and question -- sometimes I am just left speechless.
The winner conversation -- I'm driving with my younger three in the car. My daughter asks me "mom, what's a donor?" I tried to explain as best as I could. Then their conversation continues just between the three of them. My daughter continues to explain to them "you know my teacher...her daughter got killed and she donated all her organs to help save other people...but you know...they were able to save her baby". I'm listening to this conversation and wondering "okay, you're teacher sure went into specifics".
Anyhow, kids are just funny and sometimes when we think they are not listening or paying attention, they are!
I'm sure those of you out there with kids can relate to many conversations like the ones I just shared. Kids I tell ya! So hilarious!

There is never a dull moment when there are kids around.. And your right they pick up on every little thing, its so funny..

Yes I worry now because hey pick up and anything and everything!!! gotta love em
amen to that..they have those invisible antennas that you don't notice, until they bring it up when you least expect it..lol.mums the word when my kids are around..lol
