Roll Bounce

Every time I hear the word 'roller skate' I think of the movie "Roll Bounce". It came out in 2005 -- and when I watched it the for the first time, it made me want to get out on the roller skating rink and skate like them. Rent the movie if you haven't watched it. It's cute!

Last night for our combined youth activity, we went roller skating at Hollywood Connection. I brought my twins along. Ailini had a piano recital and her grandma took her. So it was just Nohe'a, the twins and I. On our way Gideon asks, "mom, do you know how to roller skate?" I told him "yes, why?" Gideon then replied, "cause Nohe'a said you don't know how". I just laughed and said "whatever".

Our normal mutual night is Wednesday, but since the skating rink offered a deal on Tuesdays, we decided to go on Tuesday. With the size of our group, it ended up costing $1 each for skating and skate rental. I was worried about the youth enjoying the activity. Well, to my surprise, they were enjoying themselves. It seemed like the night where all the poly wards took their kids skating 'cause a few more wards showed up.

I ran into my little friend Sake Iloa. He is just the cutest kid! He actually is my sister in law Sela's (married to my little brother Brian) nephew. It's her brother's son. Sake became very ill a few months ago. I'm not too sure what happened other than one day he stopped talking. His parents rushed him to the hospital and had to be hospitalized. Poor guy made it through. It was good to see him. His dad took him around in his wheelchair on the skating rink.

The night ended with the youth meeting at the church for frybread made by the YM President's wife. My kids and I went straight to my mom's after skating. On the way to my mom's, Gideon asks "mom, how long have you been skating?" I just laughed and told him "a long time". Yeah, kids are so funny. Sometimes they underestimate what we as adults can do. It felt good to be out there skating with them. Definitely surprised my kids with my skating skills. LOL.

On a good note, the travelers to Tonga made it home safely!!!
