Eagle Board of Review

Soni my 14 year old finally had his Eagle Board of Review today. I know, he's only 14 and this is a great accomplishment, but had I stayed up on it, he would've received his Eagle months ago.

There's so much I could write about, but I'll keep it short today.

During the Eagle Board of Review process, we (Haloti, Soni and I) met with the two counselors of the Bishopric, the YM's President, his scoutmaster and assistant and 3 members of the District. We all began in the room together then we (Haloti, Soni and I) were asked to leave the room while they meet and review his paperwork. After a few minutes, they came out and asked for Soni to come in. Once he was done with the review, we were then asked to come back into the room.

The district asked us to share any thoughts and feelings about Soni. I shared my feelings and then Haloti shared his. Like always, I had difficulty not crying. I could not believe that this moment was actually happening. It sunk in that my so called 'little boy' is not so little anymore.

As we were about to close the review, the District member turned to me and said, "Mom, you should be proud. When we asked Soni who his hero was - he said it was his mom". I was speechless. The tears just started rolling again. The YM President turned to me and said, "Sinai, after hearing his report, you're my hero too".

I never asked Soni what he said about me, but I suppose it was something nice. It's the biggest compliment that one can receive as a parent...as a mother.

It is my hope that he continues to grow and be the young man that he is. I love you Soni!
