All for the love of ZUMBA!

Every Wednesday and Thursday morning from 5:30-6:30 am, I teach a FREE Zumba class out in Salt Lake. However, for the past 2 weeks, classes were canceled due to building construction. The girl who made arrangements for us to use the building told me it was ready to go.

I arrived at the building a little earlier than my norm. I couldn't sleep and kept waking up throughout the night. Maybe I was a little anxious or a little nervous 'cause it's been awhile. When I arrived at the building, there was one vehicle there. I grabbed my belongings out of the car and hurried to open the door. When I got to the door, I noticed the keyhole was blocked off with a metal plate and a card reader was on the side of the door. I did not have a card. All I had was a key. I made a phonecall and Ane apologized. The lady in charge of the building did not mention anything about the change. I told her don't worry, I'll just let the ladies who have arrived know that we wouldn't be having class, but expect class tomorrow morning.

As I made my rounds to let everyone know, Teuila reminded me that her sister Mahina has access to another building not too far from there. I told her, "oh okay, we can do that". But by this time, a couple of the ladies that came out left and I didn't have a number to call them. As I made my way back to Teuila's car, she apologized saying that Mahina has not picked up the phone. I stood there for a minute and was about to tell everyone, "okay, nevermind, just kidding". But then she was able to get a hold of her. So we all headed over to the building.

When I arrived at the building, all the cars were still parked with everyone in it. We waited for Mahina to get there. We didn't wait too long. Mahina arrives. In the meantime as she is trying to open the door, I am looking down at my phone. Just as I look up, I notice her car driving off. Everyone was still in their cars waiting. Teuila was parked right next to me, so I asked her what happened? I wasn't paying attention. She laughed and told me that Mahina brought the wrong set of keys. Luckily she lives just around the corner.

We waited probably just another few minutes and then Mahina arrived with the right set of keys. Excited, we all headed into the building. As we are about to get the sound system hooked, we realize there is no power cord. The cord she came with was a different cord. Uggghhhhh....talk about everything that could go wrong, did. Again, luckily the girl (Xochitl) who owns the sound system lives around the corner too. She ran home to go look for the power cord.

While she is gone looking for the cord, I notice there is an input for the built in sound system in the building. I take over my iPod and cord and try to hook it up. I was excited. Finally we were going to start. As I try and plug in the cord, I find out, it doesn't fit. Back to disappointed again. Then Teuila suggested I try my other cord I have. Wah lah...what do you know, it fit and were all set to Zumba. By the time we get it hooked up, Xochitl is back with the power cord. We decided to just use the built in sound system.

With all the troubles we had with the building & sound system, class didn't start until 6:05 am. We were able to do only 45 minutes worth. Despite all the problems we had, we were able to get a good workout in.

And if you thought my troubles ended there, on my way home, I missed my EXIT and had to take the long route home. What a morning! True Zumba diehards for sure. And all of this for the LOVE of ZUMBA!

**Many thanks to Ane for helping me out each week by providing a building. Even though it didn't work out this morning - I'm still appreciative of the effort. Thank you Teuila for not giving up and suggesting the other building. Thank you Mahina for coming out, toothache and all to open the building for us. And thank you Xoch for bringing the sound system each class. And last but not least - THANK YOU ALL for making it out each morning! You are all amazing! Much ofa's!**
