Yesterday as I neared the end of my shift at work, I had a nice chat with a co-worker. He had given his two weeks and is moving on to work for another company. We chatted for a bit about work, how long I've worked for the company I work for...blah, blah, blah. Just your random office talk basically. In the middle of our conversation he asks, "are you happy with your job?". I quickly replied, "yes, it's a job that I need to have to pay the bills". I went on to say how grateful I am for it and how flexible they have been with me. He then said, "it's almost like the Stockholm Syndrome". I asked, "Stockholm syndrome?" He tried to explain it to me using work as a comparison. Rather than trying to explain it in my own words, let me share the link he shared with me about it and work. Click HERE.
It was an interesting read. I think it doesn't apply to work only, but other things in our lives. How often are we in situations that we know are not good, but we continue to stay in them?
Anyhow, random thought I thought I would share. Something new I learned yesterday.
