Week update...

Seems like I am not able to post on a daily basis like I wanted to. Here's a quick rundown of my week:

Monday: President's Day - like I mentioned on an earlier post, I spent the morning catching a Zumba class. I was going to go to step, but then Silia and decided to catch a Zumba class. We caught Alice Lopez's class at her studio, Studio Azul. I met Alice last year at the gym she was teaching. Since then I've kept in touch through Facebook, but never actually caught a class. Well, finally made it to a class at her new studio. She is awesome, amazing and lots of fun. We had a good time. And like always, sister Silia straight showed them how to shake and drop that bootay! Too funny!
Alice Lopez, Zumba instructor (as well as other exercise formats) and owner of Studio Azul.

The 9:30 am class.

Silia, Alice, Lisa (a friend from the WVC rec) and I.

Spent the rest of the day cleaning house, doing laundry and all that fun stuff. In the evening I wanted to catch the Zumba/Step class, but the normal instructor was not in, so it was just Zumba. I also stayed for my other favorite class - Turbo Kick/Muscle. Like always a great workout.

Tuesday: I had planned to catch Julie's Tuesday night Zumba class because it's been over a month at least since I've been to the West Valley Rec for a Zumba class. That didn't happen. It was the twin's Blue & Gold banquet for scouts. I spent the evening there with them.

Here's a few pictures:
These two hate posing for picture. They always try and do a hardcore face.

Spaghetti dinner. Choice of marinara sauce or alfredo. The cub scouts served their guests. They asked me which one I wanted. I told them, if the alfredo one has meat, get me that. If not, then get me the just the regular with meatballs. What did I get? I think they told whoever was in the kitchen what I wanted and they gave me both. It was pretty good. They also had blue & yellow jello served with whipped topping. I'm not big on jello, so I had one spoonful. The twins of course loved it.

Brydan.

Here he is again. Of course, this would be after he told me he didn't want to eat. I told him he better get a plate because I was not cooking at home. The kid ate everything.

The Bear Den.

Emergency Preparedness certificate and a Donor Awareness badge.

So cute their poster aye? Well, they pointed out to me that their Den Leader posted the wrong picture by their drawing.

They also had cupcakes with yellow and blue frosting. I'm not a fan of any kind of frosting, so I pretty much scraped the whole thing off.

It was a fun evening and spending time with these two is always fun. Good job boys!

Wednesday: Began with my early morning Zumba class. Class was great as always. Like every week, there are the regulars and then there are the new ones. We've been getting a lot of new people and majority of them are much older - probably close to my mom's age. I love that they are making an effort to be physically active. In our polynesian community, this is rare, especially for the older generation. It makes me happy! So proud of all the individuals that come out each morning. It's not easy, but they make the effort! After class I was approached by one of the new women asking if I could teach a Zumba class that evening for their youth. I asked how long she was asking and she said about a half hour. She then told me it was not until 7:15 pm or so. I agreed. Rest of the day consisted of work and then leaving a little early to teach my 4pm class at Rhodes. Again, another amazing group to work out with. At the end of class we went over how to move their hips. They were in amazement at how easily I was able to move mine. I told them, they are more than capable, it's just that they are being shy about it. They appreciated the time taken to show them. I got home in time to pick up the twins (who volunteered to come along) and head out to teach the youth. I arrived and they were patiently waiting. The class was combined - both young men and young women. With every class, I don't play the same playlist. I try and cater to the group I am teaching. So for the youth, I tried to find music that I think they might like. Since this was a half hour class, I think we did about 8 songs or so. I've taught a couple of youth groups and this group by far were really into it. Surprisingly, it was the young men, not the young women. I think they were surprised that it was a workout. I heard one of the young men say, "man, I'm tired". It was a fun evening. Silia and her triplets came out along with Ema.

Me with my backup crew - the twins and triplets. Too funny. I didn't know they were behind me until Silia motioned to me to look behind.

A glimpse of the youth. How come it was the young men on the front row? I should've pulled them up on stage withme.

Yes, even the leaders (men and women) got into it. Way cool!

Thursday: Early morning Zumba, work and pretty much spent the evening resting.

Friday: Again another morning Zumba class, this time at The Park Center in Murray. I'm trying to figure out this group - one week, I'll get like 12 people and then the following week like 2-4. I know there are things to consider such as time and what not, but in my mind I'm wondering if they just don't like my class period. I don't know, but I do know I will continue to do my best, be prepared and just be me. I can not try and copy so and so's style, I got to make it my own and just go with it. Not going to lie, it's tough, but not going to give up. Besides, it's only been like a month teaching there, so I've got to give it some time. It was my second time using the mic and I'm slowing getting use to it. The rest of the day was spent at work. Work has been busy - mainly because I am learning something new. As much as I sometimes do not want to work, it's my job and I need to help support, so I've got to do what I can to keep my job. I didn't get off until 7 pm or so. Got home to pick up Soni & Nohe'a to go shoe shopping for Nohe'a. Lucky thing the kid wanted to go to Ross. He found some cheap inexpensive, but nice shoes. We ended the night at Smashburger - first time there and it wasn't too bad.

That's pretty much the summary of my week. Funny how last year it was one day a week getting up early. Fast forward to now -- Wed., Thurs., Fri. and now Sat. begin at 3 or 4 am. Guess whether I like it or not, I have to learn to enjoy getting up at the crack of dawn. It wouldn't be a problem if I went to bed by 10, but some evenings (actually morning in some cases) I'm not in bed until 1 am.

Well, there you go.....my week.....my life.....
