A few months ago, I posted this video:
I believe it was back in April. Sometime between April and last weekend, a friend of mine who I met through Zumba (Karmel Harper - check out her blog - HERE) put together a Flash Mob. What is a Flash Mob?
Here's a perfect example of a Flash Mob. Oprah and the Black Eyed Peas did one a year or two ago. Pretty cool.
Anyhow, for months we've been teaching Beyonce's "Let's Move" choreography from the video above in all of our Zumba classes. Not only is the dance fun, but the message behind it. Beyonce teamed up with the First Lady, Michelle Obama in her campaign to fight childhood obesity. A great message and cause. A Facebook group and event page was created and everyone kept in touch through there. Those who could not catch a Zumba class watched the breakdown video that taught the dance step by step.
I debated whether or not I was going to participate this past Saturday. Only because I already had a full plate for that day. I had to work at 4 am until noon. Then there was the Pacific Health Summit that Pacific Health Club (my new volunteer organization I joined a few months ago) was going to be at. Haloti's family reunion, which Saturday was our host day. All of this before the Flash Mob scheduled for 5 pm. Believe it or not, I made it to everything. Even went out to dinner afterwards with the Pacific Health Club team. I was beat at the end of the day, but it was worth it.
YouTube has a bunch of videos from our Flash Mob, this one was taken from the front. Lots of people participated and at the same time, lots missed out too. They were not lying when they said they were going to start at 5:02 pm on the dot. When the video pans right, you can see me (white tee & black cap on) with my daughter and niece. They knew the dance too. It was fun.
They are doing another one July 2nd. There is talk that we might do another one on the 4th of July at the Bula Festival. We'll see. Haven't finalized anything as of yet.
