Senior Citizen...

Today was Day 2 of my goal to work out in the morning. I almost did not make it. The goal was to be at the gym this morning at 6:30, but that didn't happen. I didn't make it there until 7:15. When I got to the gym, I was debating what to do. I knew today was my day off weights since I worked arms & legs yesterday. (From what I hear, abs and calves are quicker to recover than other muscles, so you can work on those every day.)

I decided that I was going to give walking/running a try. I that's what I did. I walked around the track a few times...then I alternated by running one lap and walking the next. I did that for a half hour. Then I finished up by working on my abs.

One thing I noticed about working out in the morning, lots of senior citizens. As I walked around the track, I thought to myself, hopefully when I am a senior citizen, I will continue to be active -- by attending the gym on a regular basis.

One thing that I did learn from Weight Watchers is that you have to make a lifetime commitment. So for me, it's not a "when I get to this size, or when I lose this much" I'm going to stop. It's not all about looking good -- but it's about feeling good. I know many people my age with health problems -- and some of them can be avoided by eating right and exercising.

If I can help it, I want to be there for my kids. Watch them grow and be able to do things with them. A week or two ago, I got out and jumped on the trampoline with my two older boys. It felt great to get on the tramp and not feel like I was going to break it. You know, it's things like that.

Oh and the best thing about Weight Watchers -- you can eat whatever, just in moderation. So as you can see from the food I eat -- I do that. Again, never deprive yourself! 'Cause when you do, that's usually when you lose control and go overboard!

Ok, enough about that....hopefully there will be other events in my life to write about so y'all are not bored with my 'going to the gym...and eating' blogs. LOL.
