Don't sit out!

A few days ago, we planned a few things to do with the kids. On New Year's day after a fabulous Zumba class with Teresa Auva'a, we decided to go sledding. It was a nice day. Now, when was the last time I went sledding? Let's just say it's been so long, I can't even remember. I prepped myself by dressing for the occasion. It was so much fun. It was a rush - a good kind of rush. At the same time, a little scary at times. It felt so good to be able to do that.

This past Tuesday, my sister planned a skating activity. Again, another activity I don't do too often. Last time I skated was almost a year ago. I wasn't too thrilled about the activity because that meant I would miss my Zumba class. Not wanting to disappoint anyone, thought it would be best to go skating and miss Zumba for a change. To be quite honest, I didn't want to go skating. We met my mom, sisters and their kids at the rink. My mom and sister Lani just watched. Sister Silia had her skates on and asked if I was going to skate. I told her "no". She convinced me to. I was glad she did. It was a killer on the shins, but a great workout. I even participated in the games. I didn't win, but had fun trying. I fell a few times and even ran into the wall. But all in all, a great evening.

There are so many things we miss out on because we choose to sit it out. How often do we do that in life and then regret that we did? Life is to be enjoyed. Don't miss out on those opportunities. If there are roadblocks in your way, find a way around it!

Here's a few pictures (borrowed from my sister Silia) from our sledding and skating activities. Memories to last a lifetime!

New Year's Day and lots out ready to sled.

My sister Kalo after she tried to snowboard. And no, she didn't have a snowboard.

Me with my sledding saucer. If you want speed, definitely the way to go.

Me with my sister Kalo. Don't mind my "grandma hat". It did what it was suppose to - keep my ears warm. That's all that matters.

All the kids that rode with me, decided they didn't want to ride with me anymore. Granted we flipped a few times, ran into people and all that, I don't blame them.

When we were leaving the hills, we had to pass through the playground. This is how ghetto we are. Ghetto, but fun!

Our train we tried to form.
