I can't remember if I posted it on here or not, but I recently picked up a Zumba class on Wednesday afternoon. I was able to get this job with the help of my Zumba friend, Lisa. This Zumba gig is at Rhodes. This class is for their employees only. As any first class, I was a bit nervous.
I made sure I left work a little early so I could arrive on time in case I got lost. I was able to find their building without any problems. I arrived and there was an older gentleman outside the building working on the doorbell. I asked him if I'm suppose to ring the doorbell. He said, "yes". Then he asked, "did you need to use the restroom or something? Because if you do, this is not a public..." something to that degree. I told him, "no, I'm here to teach a class". He then told me, "well, then go ahead in". I quietly laughed as I walked in.
I was greeted by the receptionist who took me upstairs. I got a quick glance around the building. Very nice. They had a couple workout areas which contained some nice equipment. She took me over to the room where I would be teaching Zumba. I got my music hooked up and waited. A few of the ladies arrived along with my friend Lisa. We did a brief introduction and then began class.
Let me just say, it was a little difficult doing Zumba on the carpet, but we managed. And the ladies...just the best attitudes. I love it!!! I met the gentleman that I spoke to over the phone about teaching and he was just as nice as the rest of the people that worked there.
After class, Lisa took me to meet her husband. He does all the cool graphics and what not for Rhodes. What a fun job!!! You know what else was cool? Their desks. Mitch (Lisa's husband) designed them. Wish I took a picture, but I didn't want them to think I was weird. We took a quick tour around the building, saw their kitchen they use for videos and all of that. We stopped by the break room where they had fresh fruits, veggies & snacks for the employees -- for FREE. How cool is that. We then headed to the basement where they have this huge walk in freezer. Inside the freezer was nothing but their Rhodes products. Lisa & Mitch packed a box of goodies for me to take home. The products in the freezer -- for their employees...again for FREE.
Years ago when I was in seventh grade, we had a get to know you type activity in one of the classes. We each drew a random name of someone in our class. On a piece of paper, we were to write what we know/or notice about that particular person. I drew the name of a girl. On her paper, I wrote "she always wears matching shoes". When it came time for them to share what was written about them (my name was anonymous, so she/and the rest of the class didn't know who wrote what about who) the class chuckled about what I wrote. Being that my family didn't have much, I only owned one pair of shoes. I wore that pair of shoes with everything. So for me, that was something I recognized right away.
I've always been that type of person. I recognize things that may not be of value to someone else. Sometimes, it's just silly little things. Well, when I took a tour of the Rhodes office, I was able to feel and see that they cared about their employees. There are not very many companies like that around any more. For what I get paid and what they pay the other instructors, I know they fork out quite a bit. Along with that, the free items available to the employees? What a great company!!!
If you are not familiar with their products, check our their site HERE.
Here's a picture of the goodies I came home with.
