Eat Whole Foods First

Whole, unprocessed foods are an essential part of a healthy diet. Focus the majority of your diet on foods that have very little processing and have very few if any alternations from nature.

For example, wheat ground to white flour is altered. The healthy fiber that was once naturally part of the wheat has been removed. Highly processed foods such as candy and cookies, crackers and chips and prepared and packaged foods often lack the nutrients that were original to the whole foods and are filled with additives and chemicals.

Eating whole foods protects against disease. The fiber in whole foods slows down the digestion process so that more nutrients can be absorbed, keeps the intestines clean and regulates blood sugar. Try to eat 80% of your calories from whole food.
